John W. Ruwwe, Jr. Bio
John Ruwwe graduated with a BS in Geology from Texas Christian University in 1984. After a three and one half year period working for Thomas D. Coffman, Inc., an independent E&P company in Austin, Texas, John left to work with his father, John Ruwwe Sr.
The two teamed up with an independent landman in Midland, R.E. “Rick” Glasscock, to begin a fruitful and productive relationship exploring for Canyon reefs in the forereef trend of Scurry and Howard County. The team expanded to include Bud Brigham, a young geophysicist who had just resigned from Rosewood Resources. The team went on to generate and drill numerous 3-D defined pinnacle reefs over a period of many years.
As the Horseshoe Atoll play quieted down, Ruwwe and Glasscock teamed up with Craig Taylor, an engineer in Midland and Philip Carlisle, a geologist, to prospect in the Sheffield Channel area of Pecos County exploring for Wolfcamp pods. Using 3-D seismic, the team drilled over thirty (30) wells and found some significant oil and gas reserves. The Pecos County properties were sold to S&J Operating in 2006. Ruwwe is a Certified Geologist (Texas No. 5636) and long standing member of the A.A.P.G. He continues to prospect and generate deals and monitor development of ongoing Habanero projects.
